St. John's Waterfront Lodge

St. John's Waterfront Lodge was the first backpackers lodge in Cape Town, which took the form of St. John's Lodge in St. John's Rd, in the neighbouring suburb of Sea Point. They received the Mayors Award for service excellence to tourism in Cape Town, South Africa.

The present lodge is situated behind the vibrant Victoria and Alfred Waterfront on the foot of Signal Hill in the suburb of Green Point.

They are within walking distance from the new Cape Town soccer stadium, the recently regenerated Green Point Central Improvement District (for shopping and dining) and a short walk from the city centre. They are a quick drive or shuttle to Clifton Beach or Table Mountain.


St. John's Waterfront Lodge has recently added 3 additional rooms. There are a total of 2 single rooms, 32 dorm beds and 15 spacious double rooms that are serviced regularly. They also have a self-catering flatlet that sleeps 4 and an ensuite room that sleeps 3.
